Each month you will be set a theme to work a page in your fabric sketchbook.
You will be supplied with a 6 page, 12 sided book, hand-made in a range of fabrics.
The challenge will run for a year, when we will show a gallery of your books on our website.
Throughout the year you will join our virtual group where you will be able to share ideas and your on-going work.
The challenge starts in September; but you will need to register your interest and pay your introductory fee of £25.00 by the Friday 14th August 2015 to insure that we have your starter pack with you and have invited you into our virtual college, in time to start. In addition to your introductory fee, there will be a monthly fee of £5.00 for 11 months, payable by direct debit.
Your Fabric Sketchbook
This has landscape pages in a range of natural fabrics. The covers are wool felt, with silk, cotton and linen fabrics inside it. They are suitable for a range of techniques including applique, painting, dyeing and stitching. The pages are open at the top and bottom to allow you to get to the back of the work. You can easily insert a stabilizer of wadding. You can position it onto the free arm of your sewing machine. All pages are stitched in corresponding threads so that they will take up dye in a similar way, if you choose to do so.
To be able to print and colour a page without contaminating the one behind it, a plastic square in included. This is also used to stretch the fabric for accurate work. An acetate sheet is also included for simple mono-print techniques. The tapes of your book are designed to fasten or hang it, should you choose to do so.
Alison invites and supports you as you find your way around. It is easy to upload images and add comments.
