Creative Computing
The computer is a new art medium for artists to explore. Adobe Photoshop is a powerful piece of software that allows artists to develop their creative skills and ideas. It is exciting to work in this new area of art, discovering possibilities and potential within it.
Kate has put together an introductory course that is aimed towards artists and crafts people who wish to use the computer to enhance their creative work. It has become a very popular Summer School course each year.
Please be aware that this is not available with a City & Guilds qualification.
An Introduction to Creative Computing
Students are taught the basics of Adobe Photoshop in order to develop their design work. The course starts with looking at image input including simple photography guidelines. Kate has designed the course to learn a minimum number of PhotoShop tools and to use them in a range of ways; from simple photographic corrections, to combining images and taking them into creative realms. There is an introduction to drawing and to pattern repeat. Students leave with a comprehensive portfolio of work on a range of papers and materials. All courses are a progression of 10 assignments. We can award an ArtyBird certificate for your folder, if you wish.
Please e-mail for further details regarding this course.
Intermediate Creative Computing
This course is a continuation from the introductory course. New tools within PhotoShop will be introduced looking at two key areas:
1. Correcting and developing photographic images.
2. Making creative digital images by combining images and techniques.
You will be asked to bring in a small project to work on with photographs, sketches and small items that can be scanned, along with a few materials of the craft area you work in. These will be used within your work. There will be lots of time to work on building up a personal portfolio of work. Images already in digital form should be at 300ppi, no bigger than 7”x5”, as a tif. file and on a USB memory stick. We will be using PhotoShop Elements 5. All courses are a progression of 10 assignments. We can award an ArtyBird certificate for your folder, if you wish.
