Courses Offered by ArtyBirdCarnforthThere are two types of course you can study with ArtyBirdCarnforth. You can work towards an internationally accredited, professional qualification awarded by City & Guilds. This can be on an attended course or via Distance Learning.
ArtyBird Courses - Tailor Made to your NeedsWe can also offer an in-house course, tailored made to your needs. We are able to respond to your requests and write specific courses. The Creative Computing Summer School was just such a course. Sometimes we are contacted by students who want to learn a particular technique and we have been able to invite them to join the weekend group when this aspect of the City & Guilds course is being delivered. Please email us and we will keep you on our files and accomodate you when we can.
Exploring Traditional Mosaic Techniques 1 by Kate Horner I am now in the position to offer small group tuition (up to 4) in a studio environment. This could be on a regular basis or as a one-off workshop. If you and/or a group of friends have something you want to study then please get in touch. You could study: Felt, Embroidery, Dyeing, Weaving and Design. If you are a beginner then this is an ideal way to gain new skills. A series of monthly days can be created to get you started. As an intermediate student you could develop your ideas both in technique and in design. You may want to learn a new technique to extend or combine with those you already have. If you are starting a new project you may want to have a design day where you can explore your source in a well equipped studio. Advanced students may just want a tutorial occasionally to progress your work. I work with a local group of post City & Guilds students as their mentor, developing their work and critical skills as they work towards exhibitions. You may want to explore advanced techniques, under guidance as you perfect your skills. You may wish to produce a one-off group piece and need a large space and tutor. I may be able to accomodate you. Please contact us and we shall try to cater for your needs. If this is part of your Continuing Professional Development then we can present you with an ArtyBird Certificate.
Exploring Traditional Mosaic Techniques with Printed Felts by Kate Horner. These two pieces are personal, developmental work in response to seeing the Mongolian Felt exhibition at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow. I am now going to combine these techniques with my Leighton Moss images.
